Day Program Supervisor 

At To The Rescue, our purpose is to improve the quality of lives through personalized and skilled services, specifically designed for each individual or organization.

Summary of position/Objective:

To The Rescue’s Day Program is a habilitative day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  We are first and foremost responsible for the consumers’ well-being and safety. Day Program is centered on both facility and non-facility based activities.  While at the facility our consumers experience group discussions, group games, learn simple educational lessons (i.e. reading, writing, math, money skills, etc.), do arts and crafts projects and learn living skills focused on increasing independence. Day Program also offers excursions that are educational in nature; excursions to museums; recreational excursions; outings that encompass volunteer opportunities; outings to state parks and tours of local establishments.  The Day Program Lead SCC DSP is responsible for handling issues that arise in the absence of the Day Program manager, as well as handling issues that the Day Program manager designates as the Lead’s responsibility. The monthly outing calendar, daily Provider Notes for consumers who attended an outing, as well as any Incident Reports for incidents that occurred on an outing are a few such responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain close communication with the Day Program Manager on all matters that concern Day Program
  • Attend any required meetings as designated by the Day Program Manager, including scheduled IDT and SP meetings of Day Program consumers
  • Must be able to meet the needs of various consumers, including feeding, toileting, transferring, mentoring and teaching on a daily basis
  • Ensure all assigned and required paperwork and tracking is completed in a timely manner
  • Oversee Day Program operations in the absence of the Day Program Manager. Ensure Day Program facilitators are performing essential job duties, including med admin, interacting with consumers and maintaining the overall safety and comfort of all consumers. Communicate urgencies to the Main Office when encountered
  • Ensure that the consumer experience is of the highest quality day in and day out. Adhere to all regulations and rules pertaining to the operation of a Day Program
  • Must function as a role model to Day Program facilitators; provide leadership as needed, including assisting with training
  • Communicate issues and concerns on a timely basis to Day Program Manager
  • Must pass DOT physical and be able to drive To The Rescue buses and shuttles
  • All other duties as assigned

Competencies/Qualifications/Education:

  • Preferred 2-4 years of direct care experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to Multi-task throughout the day
  • Ability to supervise, direct and communicate with employees
  • Have patience, compassion and empathy
  • High level of organization
  • Motivation to run a top notch program
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work as member of a team
  • Adequate computer skills including at least basic understanding of Microsoft Office, email and internet

Certificates/Licenses/Registration:

The employee shall possess a valid driver’s license and must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance and provide proof of private vehicle coverage. Required to drive all agency vehicles which include vans, 15-passenger van, and bus.

 

Work Hours:

Provide leadership to staff in partnership with the day program manager.

Work Environment:

The work environment is variable, anywhere from office setting to a hospital/clinic to out in the community.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and speak. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel:

Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasionally travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required.
