Construction Estimator / Project Manager

Summary of position:

This roll will be responsible for viewing and understanding project plans/blueprints, assisting leadership with management of all projects, performing take-offs and acquiring estimates from sub-contractors. This role requires high level analytical skills, multi-tasking, communication, and leadership skills.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to and upholds PRK Williams Construction and Remodeling values and policies
  • Responsible for entire process of responding to request for proposals, quantifying time and costs of project, securing subcontractors, following up with customers, and securing the contract
  • Complete take-offs and review plans and specs
  • Communicate with suppliers to determine material costs
  • Communicate with sub-contractors for formal estimates on work to be performed
  • Create purchase orders for suppliers and assist with scheduling deliveries
  • Prepare and present estimates and proposals in timely, professional manner according to company standards
  • Provide feedback to leadership about process improvements and recommend alternative solutions
  • Manage project costs through ongoing evaluation of labor, material, and equipment
  • Maintain positive relationship with customers, general contractors, sub-contractors and business partners
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, and how they relate to each project
  • Knowledge of building codes, and how they may impact cost or lead time on each project
  • Communicate with the clients during the estimating process and during the process
  • Communicate clear specifications of what was estimated on each project to the leadership team
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • Perform administrative functions such as filing, scanning, copying and other office duties as needed


Competencies/Qualifications/Education:

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (equipment management, cost control, scheduling, contract administration, negotiations, and safety)
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry best practices
  • Exposure to industry relevant software and MS Office applications
  • Complex analytical and problem-solving skills
  • BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent work experience

 

Preferred, but Not Required:

  • 3 years estimating experience
  • Drafting experience
  • Experience in property maintenance and typical maintenance schedules


Certificates/Licenses/Registration:

The employee shall possess a valid driver’s license and must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance and provide proof of private vehicle coverage.


Work Hours:

Hours are varied depending on the needs of the organization (typ. 7:30am – 4:30pm). This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position may require hours that exceed a typical 8-hour work day as needed.


Work Environment:

The work environment is consistent with similar office environment settings and will include off site estimating and jobsite visits.

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.


Travel:

Frequent travel within a 45-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasionally travel beyond a 45-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel.
