Cleaning Specialist

Summary of position/Objective:

Under the direction of the Cleaning Supervisor, perform the day-to-day and periodic cleaning activities in assigned work areas. Basic responsibilities may include any combination of the following tasks, sanitizing public areas, restroom cleaning, spot cleaning (including wall washing), trash removal, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, spot buffing, sweeping, dust mopping, carpet spotting, metal cleaning, and window glass cleaning. The Cleaning Specialist provides touch-up cleaning in high visibility and/or high traffic areas. Specific responsibilities for each individual Cleaning Specialist will be determined by client expectations, Manager/Supervisor discretion, and the cleaner’s capabilities and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Duties include cleaning all areas of a residence/business as requested by the consumer; this includes residential cleaning, commercial cleaning, specialized cleaning projects, moving/organization projects, etc. Must be agile and able to kneel, bend, stand, mount small step stool or ladder, and move furniture as needed
  • Perform daily and periodic tasks in assigned areas as directed
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area including janitorial closets and storage areas
  • Perform all cleaning assignments in accordance with TTR’s Services approved procedures
  • Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition, and notifies the Cleaning Supervisor if repairs or replacement is necessary
  • Maintains appropriate supply levels in assigned janitorial closets and storage areas
  • Works safely at all times and promptly informs management about unsafe conditions existing in the work area
  • Wears personal protective equipment appropriate for the task being performed
  • Meets all clients and TTR services quality expectations in assigned tasks
  • Adheres to proper security procedures
  • Notifies management about problems or opportunities that affect services to the client
  • Respond to and resolve various emergency calls and routine calls for service
  • Report all new and lost consumers as well as complaints and compliments to the direct supervisor
  • Maintain, order, and restock cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Communicate difficult issues and concerns in a timely manner to direct supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to multi-task throughout the day and maintain fast-paced, consistent and thorough cleanings
  • High level of organization
  • Motivation to grow and be part of a high-quality cleaning program
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability and desire to clean houses and businesses
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, clean driving record


The employee must provide and maintain a valid driver's license for the entire duration of their employment, and must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role will not directly supervise employees.

Work Hours:

Hours are varied depending on the needs of the organization. This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position requires hours that exceed a typical 8-hour work day as needed.

Work Environment:

The work environment is consistent with similar office environment settings, external cleaning facilities and client homes.

  • While performing these duties, the employee is frequently required to speak and hear
  • While performing these duties, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time
  • The employee is frequently required to reach, climb, bend, squat, stoop and kneel
  • The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders
  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.  Occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • The employees will frequently push or pull items such as tables, desks and other office furniture
  • Specific vision requirements include close and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus
  • This position requires the employee to have the ability to move around on a job site that does not have level clean surfaces. This position requires the employee to be able to drive a vehicle


Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasionally travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel.
