Human Resources Director

Human Resources Director

  • Responsible for the smooth and effective operation of To The Rescue’s Human Resources Department

  • Supervises and provides consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget and labor relations

  • Ensures a culture that enables employees to perform in accordance with To The Rescue’s business goals

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively plan, design, develop and evaluate human resource-related initiatives that support organizational strategic goals and the employee experience

  • Lead performance management, talent assessment and effective labor relationships

  • Supervise staff and report on issues regarding implementation of policies and procedures, safety of the workforce and labor, legislative and other human resources issues

  • Continually improve organizational development programs, employee orientation and training programs, compensation and benefits plans, policies and guidelines, equal opportunity employment programs and employee records and documentation policies

  • Evaluate effectiveness through compiling and analyzing data.  Prepare and distribute various reports on HR metrics to ensure needs are met

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and industry regulations.  Advise department managers on legal implications of HR issues related to discipline and employee grievances

  • Plan and oversee the HR department budget 

  • Support the Talent Acquisition Team with recruiting and hiring high-performing employees

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role supervises all members of the Human Resources Team


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources

  • PHR or similar Human Resources Certification preferred

  • 6 or more years of progressive Human Resources experience


  • Valid driver’s license

  • Eligible for To The Rescue’s vehicle insurance

  • Proof of private vehicle coverage

  • Pass comprehensive background checks



  • Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures

  • Working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations 

  • Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations

  • Demonstrated leadership and people development skills 

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and facilitate effective dialogue to resolve conflicts

  • Effective time management skills

  • Ability to think critically when managing competing priorities 

  • Ability to learn various computer programs

  • Familiarity with Google and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel

  • Ability to maintain a calm, solution-oriented focus in high pressure situations

Work Hours:

Hours are varied depending on the needs of the organization. This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends and holidays. This position requires hours that exceed a typical 8-hour work day as needed

Work Environment:

The work environment is consistent with office environment settings



Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasional travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel
