Human Resources Business Partner – Employee Relations

Summary of position/Objective:

  • Ensures legal compliance with state and federal regulations, applicable employment laws and advises on required policy updates
  • Investigates employee relations concerns including but not limited to the categories of harassment, discrimination, wage/ hours and/or retaliation 
  • Promotes development and retention as an advocate for employees and partner to the business units by identifying and clarifying issues, collaborating on potential solutions, implementing selected solutions, coaching managers and employees and facilitating positive outcomes
  • Champions diversity of thought and culture throughout the enterprise
  • Enhances department and organizational reputation by accepting ownership of operational excellence and exploring opportunities to add value
  • Proactively manages risk with detailed reporting and follow up on risk reports
  • Maintains strict confidentiality standards and organizational integrity

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to the HR Director in managing all human resource functions within the organization
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations recommending resolution of employee complaints to site leaders while ensuring fairness and consistency to local policies and practices
  • Maintains accurate, complete and confidential records in the investigation file regarding all investigations
  • Works closely with site leaders to ensure that all policies and procedures are understood, communicated and consistently administered with all employees
  • Recommend education solutions to improve awareness of Code of Conduct, policy and other employee relations related matters
  • Responsible for tracking grievances, investigating and driving issues to resolution and working with the HR Director and operations on any changes to practices, processes or additional training needs identified through the grievance resolution
  • Analyze and evaluate employee relations trends and provide actionable feedback to the HR Director and operations partners
  • Assists with best practices content for monthly leadership discussions and other employee relations action plans
  • Provides timely investigation summaries and ensures closeout of all completed investigations. Keeps the HR Director up to date on pending investigations
  • Partner with leadership to prepare for and when necessary attend mediations, arbitration, and other proceedings as required
  • Partners with HR Directors to provide counsel and facilitate prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflict to address issues for employees and managers in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures
  • Promotes positive employee engagement and recognition initiatives  
  • Partners in achieving operational excellence and business plan goals
  • Manages employee separations 
  • Maintains flawless employee record management

  • Familiarity with Google and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel


  • Four (4) years Human Resources generalist experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • PHR or similar Human Resources Certification preferred
  • The employee must provide and maintain a valid driver's license the entire duration of their employment, and must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role will not directly supervise employees.


Work Hours:

Hours are varied depending on the needs of the organization.  This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends and holidays. This position requires hours that exceed a typical 8-hour work day as needed.

The work environment is consistent with similar office environment settings.

Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasional travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel.
