HES Custodian- Paulding County Schools

TITLE: Custodian  

 

CLASSIFICATION:  Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position needs to perform a variety of housekeeping and custodial duties, as well as special function set-ups and moving furniture, if needed.                        

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES:

1.)    Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors.

2.)    Machine shampoo carpeting.

3.)    Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures,  window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures

4.)   Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.

5.)   Clean and empty trash cans.

6.)   Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans immediately outside building entrances.

7.)   Clean restrooms, plunger sinks and toilets, and replenish supplies.

8.)   Organize and supply custodial closets as needed.

9.)   Move, remove, and/or setup furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and any other items, inside specified rooms for special functions as directed.

10.) Change interior light bulbs that can be reached from the sixth step of a ladder or lower.

11.) Follow prescribed safety regulations and informs management of potential risks or hazards.

12.) Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work.

13.) Remove snow and ice and apply salt and/or ice melting products to assigned areas when needed.

14.) Make minor repairs such as, but not limited specifically to, replacing sweeper belts or removing light fixture covers as required.

15.) Must be willing to learn new procedures and techniques for completing tasks when the college arranges training sessions.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.)   Additional job related duties as required by the supervisor.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1.)   Able to read, write and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.

2.)   No prior work experience required.

3.)   Ability to follow instructions given either orally or in writing.

4.)   Good interpersonal skills

5.)   Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.

6.)   Willingness to learn

7.)   A criminal background check, results of which are not necessarily a bar to employment is required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  - - - Must be able to:

 

            Lift up to 50 pounds

            Ability to push and pull

            Stand

            Walk up to 8 hours per day

            Climb ladders, scaffolds up to 6’ high, and stairs

            Bend

            Stoop

            Kneel

            Able to use basic hand tools
